Applesauce Pumpkin Bread

Servings:

This yummy family tradition began when we bought the kids their pumpkins. Each of the kids got one to make their jack-o'-lantern, and Mama got one to cook! Friends and family usually enjoy this applesauce pumpkin bread. Tweak it to fit your family as I do mine. Enjoy with confectioners' sugar or cream cheese frosting on top.

Instructions

  1. 1 Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease two 9x5-inch loaf pans.
  2. 2 Mix white sugar and applesauce together in a large bowl until well combined; stir in pumpkin puree and beaten eggs until smooth. Mix in baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, salt, ginger, cloves, and mace until incorporated. Fold in walnuts and chocolate chips. Stir in flour until fully blended. Pour batter into the prepared loaf pans.
  3. 3 Bake in the preheated oven until a toothpick inserted into the center of each loaf comes out clean, about 1 hour. Cool in the pans for 10 minutes before removing to a wire rack to cool completely.
  4. 4 Sprinkle loaves with confectioners' sugar to serve.
