Grandma's Butterscotch Pie

Butterscotch pie is one of my favorite holiday desserts. This is my grandma's recipe that I still make to this day. Serve with whipped cream. Yum!

  1. 1 Gather all ingredients. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).
  2. 2 Combine milk, brown sugar, cornstarch, and salt in the top of a double boiler over simmering water. Cook, stirring constantly, until mixture starts to thicken, about 20 minutes.
  3. 3 Whisk in egg yolks; cook and stir until filling is thickened. Remove filling from heat; stir in butter and vanilla.
  4. 4 Pour filling into baked crust.
  5. 5 Bake in the preheated oven until the top begins to brown, about 5 minutes.
