  1. 1 Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
  2. 2 Heat oil in a small skillet over medium high heat. Add onion and cook, stirring constantly, until softened, about 3 minutes. Set aside.
  3. 3 Add beans to a bowl and mash them with a fork until slightly creamy, yet still have some shape and texture. Add in reserved onions, cream cheese, sour cream, chiles, chili powder, cumin, salt, and hot sauce; stir well until combined. Fold in chicken and shredded cheese until well combined. Pour mixture into a 2 to 3 quart baking dish.
  4. 4 Bake in the preheated oven until bubbly and lightly browned, about 30 minutes. Let stand 5 to 10 minutes before serving, garnished with cilantro and jalapeños if desired.
