  1. 1 Place potatoes in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave at high power until partially tender, about 8 minutes. Set aside.
  2. 2 Heat 2 tablespoons butter in a Dutch oven or large cast-iron skillet over medium heat. Add onions and sausage; cook and stir until browned, about 5 minutes. Transfer to a bowl.
  3. 3 Heat remaining 2 tablespoons butter in the Dutch oven. Add cabbage; cook and stir until tender, about 5 minutes.
  4. 4 Combine tomatoes, sugar, and paprika in a bowl; pour over cabbage and bring to a boil. Reduce heat; add potatoes and sausage mixture. Cover Dutch oven; simmer until potatoes are tender, about 40 minutes.
