My grandmother makes smokies this way, and I have to say I have never seen a similar recipe. It's a nice twist on a recipe that has only a few variations.

  1. 1 In a large saucepan, whisk the ketchup, brown sugar, bourbon whiskey, and water together until the sugar has dissolved.
  2. 2 Stir in the cocktail sausages, and place over medium heat.
  3. 3 Bring the sausages and sauce to a simmer; serve.
