This carrot potato gratin is nicely cheesy, and really tasty. You'll love the combination of sweet carrots and potatoes, and it is a pretty, golden-brown gratin.

Ingredients
1.5 pounds carrots
1.5 pounds Yukon gold potatoes
8 ounces Gruyere or white Cheddar cheese
0.5 cups grated Parmesan cheese
1 tablespoon fresh thyme
0.5 teaspoons salt
0.25 teaspoons ground black pepper
0.13 teaspoons nutmeg
1 cup heavy cream

Gather all ingredients. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (180 degrees C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.

In a large bowl combine carrots, potatoes, 1 1/4 cups Gruyere cheese, the Parmesan, thyme, salt, pepper, and nutmeg. Toss to combine.

Spread in prepared baking dish.

Pour cream evenly over carrot mixture. Cover with foil.

Bake in the preheated oven for 1 hour and 15 minutes. Remove foil.

Sprinkle with remaining 3/4 cup Gruyere cheese.

Bake, uncovered, until golden brown and vegetables are fork tender, 30 to 40 minutes. Let stand 10 minutes before serving.
