I don't know where the recipe name, cry babies, came from, but the cookies are delicious. Store them for a couple of days to let the flavors of the spices build.

  1. 1 Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Lightly grease cookie sheets.
  2. 2 Beat sugar and butter together in a medium bowl until smooth; stir in molasses. Combine flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, ginger, and cloves together in a bowl; stir into molasses mixture, alternating with milk. Stir in chocolate chips and raisins.
  3. 3 Drop rounded spoonfuls of dough onto the prepared cookie sheets.
  4. 4 Bake in the preheated oven for 10 to 15 minutes. Cool on the cookie sheets for 5 minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
