  1. 1 Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 9x13-inch pan.
  2. 2 Whisk together cake mix, eggs, sour cream, vegetable oil, and water in a large bowl until smooth.
  3. 3 Mix brown sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl. Pour 1/2 of the cake batter into the prepared pan. Sprinkle brown sugar mixture over batter.
  4. 4 Pour remaining batter on top; gently swirl batter a few times with a table knife.
  5. 5 Bake in the preheated oven until lightly golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean, about 40 minutes.
  6. 6 Make icing: Stir together confectioners' sugar, milk, and vanilla extract in a bowl until smooth and runny.
  7. 7 Pour over hot cake; allow to cool before serving.
