These air fryer fish tacos are unique. Unlike most fish taco recipes, the slaw in this recipe is air-fried instead of raw, creating a caramelized version that leaves the fish to be the crispy star of the show.
Ingredients
- nonstick cooking spray
- 4 cups cabbage slaw mix
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh jalapeño pepper
- 1 tablespoon lime juice
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
- 0.5 teaspoons salt
- 0.25 teaspoons ground black pepper
- 0.25 teaspoons ground cayenne pepper
- 0.25 cups all-purpose flour
- 0.25 cups yellow cornmeal
- 2 tablespoons taco seasoning mix
- 1 pound cod fillets , cut into bite-sized pieces
- 8 corns tortillas , 6 inch
Instructions
-
1
Preheat an air fryer to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Grease the air fryer basket with cooking spray.
-
2
Combine cabbage slaw, jalapeño pepper, lime juice, olive oil, vinegar, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper in a large bowl. Mix until evenly combined and set aside.
-
3
Mix together flour, cornmeal, and taco seasoning in a medium bowl until well combined. Add cod and toss until evenly coated; discard any excess seasoning mixture. Place coated cod in the prepared air fryer basket and mist lightly with cooking spray.
-
4
Cook in the preheated air fryer for 5 minutes. Shake the basket and continue cooking until fish is crispy and flakes easily with a fork, about 5 minutes more. Remove to a paper towel-lined plate to drain.
-
5
Place cabbage slaw mixture into the air fryer basket.
-
6
Cook in the air fryer until cabbage is caramelized, about 8 minutes, stirring halfway.
-
7
Spoon cabbage slaw evenly onto tortillas and top with fish.

Ground Cherry Salsa
I love salsa with a hint of natural sweetness and ground cherries are a perfect addition. This is a relatively mild salsa; if you like it spicier, don't remove the jalapeno seeds, or increase the amount of jalapeno. I use only organic produce, so I don't peel the cucumber.
Bone-In Ham Cooked in Beer
This is a recipe we have used for the past 5 years. The beer really tenderizes the ham. Using beer is probably a Wisconsin thing. We seem to find many uses for it. But don't worry, the ham will not taste like beer when it is done other than maybe a small hint on the bottom portions. I don't like beer at all, so I was quite skeptical at first, but when I found out that the ham I had at my friend's house for Christmas the year before had beer used to make it, I tried it and have been hooked ever since.
Paleo Caramel Sauce
A fast, fool-proof, recipe for caramel sauce with two simple ingredients that just happens to be paleo, lactose-free, gluten-free and somewhat guilt-free (depending on your diet). Use immediately or put in a covered container and store in the refrigerator up to 3 days. This will harden in the fridge, just reheat to get it pourable again.
