This French orange poached pears (poire avec orange) recipe is a lovely version of poached pears I learned when visiting France. The syrup creates a marmalade flavor—it's perfect!
Ingredients
- 1.5 cups orange juice without pulp
- 0.5 cups packed brown sugar
- 0.25 cups white sugar
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 3 whole pears , peeled and cored
- 0.5 cups chopped walnuts
Instructions
-
1
Combine orange juice, brown sugar, white sugar, vanilla extract, and cinnamon in a large saucepan over medium heat; bring to a boil, stirring until sugar dissolved. Place pears into syrup, cover, and simmer 1 hour and 15 minutes, flipping pears twice and spooning sauce over pears every 10 minutes.
-
2
Transfer pears to individual serving dishes. Continue cooking syrup, stirring often, until thickened, about 15 minutes, then stir in walnuts. Pour sauce over pears.

This sea bass recipe uses an easy and crowd-pleasing technique (and by crowd, I mean my wife). Whenever I can't decide on what to do with a piece of fish, I usually opt for this method, which involves roasting the fillets after they have been slathered in a highly seasoned vinaigrette.

This blueberry, peach, and cherry pie recipe was given to me by a friend who is the best pie maker I know. When Bing cherries aren't in season, I use raspberries.
