Glühwein (gluehwein) is the signature drink at Christmas markets across Germany. It's served hot to warm you from the inside out!
Ingredients
- 1 gallon red wine
- 8 cinnamons sticks , 3 inch
- 12 whole cloves
- 0.75 cups white sugar
- 0.5 cups fresh-squeezed lemon juice
- 1 orange , sliced into rounds
Instructions

Pour wine into a large pot and set over medium heat. Let it warm up until steam rises from the surface, but do not allow it to boil. Add cinnamon sticks, cloves, lemon juice, and sugar; stir to dissolve sugar. Float orange slices on the surface. Warm over medium heat for 5 minutes, being careful not to let it boil. Remove from heat and let stand for 1 hour.

Pour through a colander to remove orange slices and whole spices. Serve hot, or refrigerate and reheat gently just before serving.

Mediterranean Rice Salad with Vegetables
This colorful Mediterranean rice salad is a great summertime dish. I used fresh zucchini, carrots, and bell peppers, but you can add any vegetable you like. Replace rice with couscous, farro, or barley, if you prefer.

Wedding Gift Spaghetti Sauce
This recipe was given to me as part of a wedding gift recipe collection from a very dear friend. It is rich, aromatic, flavorful and makes A LOT. So please grab the biggest pot you can find. I mean REALLY BIG. Extra sauce freezes well for future pasta dishes.
