Grandma's honey bun cake is so bad for you, but tastes so good. This recipe is easy to make and my family loves it! It tastes just like a honey bun.

Ingredients

  • 1 package yellow cake mix , 15.25 ounce
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 4 large eggs
  • 0.67 cups vegetable oil
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 3.5 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 3 cups confectioners' sugar
  • 0.75 cups milk
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. 1

Gather all ingredients. Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C). Lightly grease a 9x13-inch baking pan.

  2. 2

Beat cake mix, sour cream, eggs, and oil together in a bowl with an electric mixer for 3 minutes.

  3. 3

Pour 1/2 batter into the prepared baking pan.

  4. 4

Combine brown sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl; sprinkle over batter in the pan.

  5. 5

Carefully pour remaining 1/2 batter over brown sugar-cinnamon layer.

  6. 6

Bake in the preheated oven until a toothpick inserted into center comes out clean, 45 to 50 minutes.

  7. 7

Combine confectioners' sugar, milk, and vanilla in a bowl.

  8. 8

Poke holes in hot cake with a fork; pour confectioners' sugar mixture over top of cake.

  9. 9

Cool cake completely before serving, about 30 minutes.
