Blackout Cake
Blackout cake is a moist and tender cake with deep cocoa flavor. Layers of chocolate cake are filled with light and airy chocolate pudding, then all of this goodness is enrobed in a rich chocolate ganache. This is a dream dessert: chocolate on chocolate on chocolate.
Mamaw's Southern Buttermilk Chicken
This recipe was given to me from a friend's housekeeper, who was kind to share it with me. It was passed down through her family. Chicken would be fried early in the morning or night before, then placed in the oven to finish while at church, then served for Sunday lunch. It is the best fried chicken around! Love and thanks, Maxine!
Grandmother Stougaard's Caramel Pecan Sweet Rolls
Grandmother Stougaard's caramel pecan sweet rolls recipe is an old family favorite. It's not the easiest to make, but it's well worth the trouble. Gooey and sweet, they're best eaten fresh from the oven. I usually double the recipe because if you go to the trouble to make yeast rolls, make lots. You can also warm the milk in the microwave.
