This white cake is very moist. So easy to make and even easier to fall in love with! I like to make it for showers because it is so light and delicious.
Ingredients
- 3 cups white sugar
- 1 cup butter or margarine
- 6 large eggs
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 0.25 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 pinch salt
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 dash vanilla extract , or to taste
Instructions
-
1
Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C). Grease and flour a 10-inch Bundt pan.
-
2
Cream sugar and butter together in a large bowl with an electric mixer until light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
-
3
Sift flour, baking soda, and salt together in a medium bowl. Add to shortening mixture; beat until combined. Beat in buttermilk and vanilla. Pour batter into the prepared Bundt pan.
-
4
Bake in the preheated oven until the top is golden and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean, about 1 hour. Cool on a wire rack for 10 minutes. Tap the pan firmly a few times, then shake it gently to loosen the cake. Place a wire rack over the pan and invert to release cake onto the rack to cool completely.

This French toast casserole combines all the ingredients of traditional French toast in an easy overnight method. No more flipping individual slices of French toast—make this easy casserole the night before and pop it in the oven in the morning for a casual weekend or holiday breakfast.
Bone-In Ham Cooked in Beer
This is a recipe we have used for the past 5 years. The beer really tenderizes the ham. Using beer is probably a Wisconsin thing. We seem to find many uses for it. But don't worry, the ham will not taste like beer when it is done other than maybe a small hint on the bottom portions. I don't like beer at all, so I was quite skeptical at first, but when I found out that the ham I had at my friend's house for Christmas the year before had beer used to make it, I tried it and have been hooked ever since.
Fennel and Watercress Salad
This salad would be a welcome addition to any Thanksgiving or Christmas dinner table.
