My meatball recipe inspired by Chef John's Mongolian Pork Chops is absolutely delicious. A wonderful recipe for a party. Serve them as an appetizer with toothpicks, and they will disappear before your eyes. They can also make a meal sandwiched in a hero or over a bed of pasta.
Ingredients
- 0.5 cups hoisin sauce
- 4 cloves garlic , minced
- 2 tablespoons red wine vinegar
- 1.5 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon grated fresh ginger
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 2 teaspoons sesame oil
- 2 teaspoons white sugar
- 1.5 teaspoons hot sauce
- 0.5 teaspoons ground white pepper
- 0.5 teaspoons ground black pepper
Instructions
-
1
Preheat oven to 450 degrees F (230 degrees C).
-
2
Whisk hoisin sauce, 4 cloves garlic, red wine vinegar, soy sauce, grated ginger, rice vinegar, sesame oil, sugar, hot sauce, white pepper, and black pepper together in a large bowl.
-
3
Mix ground beef, ground lamb, cabbage, yellow onion, panko, carrot, ground ginger, green onion, 6 cloves chopped garlic, garlic salt, black pepper, and 2 tablespoons of the hoisin sauce mixture together in a separate bowl; shape into meatballs and arrange on a jelly roll pan.
-
4
Bake in preheated oven until no longer pink in the middle, about 25 minutes. Shake pan to turn meatballs, switch oven to Broil, and cook under the broiler until browned, about 10 minutes more. Set aside to cool.
-
5
Transfer warm meatballs to slow cooker and pour hoisin sauce mixture over the meatballs.
-
6
Cook on Low, stirring intermittently, for 2 to 4 hours.

My Fly Stir-Fry
My mom taught me how to make this very tasty stir-fry. My boyfriend loves it so much I make it at least once a week! You can use virtually any combination of vegetables and meat you like, but the combination of sauces is essential. Serve over steamed rice or noodles.
Strawberry Oatmeal Breakfast Bars
I'm always on the lookout for easy and delicious things to make for breakfast that are on the one hand, relatively healthy and good for you, while on the other hand, not too good for you. I think these really do fit the bill. These are normally made with strawberry preserves, but here we're using fresh strawberries for a little lighter and lower-sugar approach. For best results, refrigerate before serving.
Korean Tofu and Vegetable Soup
This is the Korean equivalent of chicken noodle soup - it is a comforting, cure-all soup. It is also spicy and fresh, and easy to make. You will have to visit your local Asian market for some of the ingredients.
