Try this mezcal old fashioned. It's a twist on an old fashioned cocktail, but it uses mezcal instead of whiskey. The mezcal gives it a smoky flavor, while the añejo tequila balances out the smoke while giving the drink a golden hue with hints of oak, reminiscent of whiskey.
Ingredients
- 0.25 ounces simple syrup
- 2 dashes bitters , such as Angostura
- 1 cup ice cubes , or more as needed
- 1 piece orange peel , 3 inch
- 1 ounce mezcal
- 1 ounce añejo , aged
- 1 Luxardo cherry , optional

Combine simple syrup and bitters in an old fashioned glass. Fill the glass with ice. Squeeze orange peel over the glass to expel oils, then place peel in the glass. Add mezcal and tequila; stir until the drink is ice cold and alcohol has mellowed, about 20 seconds. Garnish with cherry to serve.

The Famous Seafood Seasoning Recipe
This seafood seasoning recipe really wasn't that hard to crack. The ingredients are printed on the container! The only difficult part was working out the correct ratios for each spice or herb, but patience, perseverance, and good ol' trial and error saved the day. The original Old Bay Seasoning was invented in the 1940s by an American-German immigrant named Gustav Brunn. Initially, it was intended only for use on crab meat (as there was plenty of it in the Chesapeake Bay area where Gustav lived), but in the last decade or so, it's been used in other food areas, such as poultry and salads.
Pork or Poultry Brine
A perfect brine recipe for large amounts of meat such as pork butt or shoulder, several racks of pork ribs, chicken, or turkey.
Wonderful Meatloaf
This is my all time favorite recipe for meatloaf. You can substitute the ketchup for barbecue sauce.
