Just like Mrs. Field's sugar cookies.
Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 0.25 teaspoons salt
- 0.75 cups white sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 0.25 cups colored sugar for decoration
- 0.75 cups butter
Instructions
-
1
Preheat oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C).
-
2
In a medium bowl combine the flour and salt with a wire whisk. In a large mixing bowl cream the butter and sugar with an electric mixer on medium speed. Add the egg and vanilla, and beat until well blended. Scrape down sides of bowl, then add the flour mixture. Blend on low speed just until combined. Do not overmix.
-
3
Gather dough into a ball. Flatten the ball into a disk and wrap tightly in plastic wrap or a plastic bag. Refrigerate one hour until firm.
-
4
On a floured surface, roll out dough to a 1/4 inch thickness. With cookie cutters, cut dough into desired shapes and place on ungreased cookie sheets. Decorate with colored sugars or sprinkles. Bake for 13-15 minutes, being careful not to brown. Immediately transfer cookies with a spatula to a cool, flat surface.

3-Minute Fudge
Easy-to-make-and-tastes-amazing fudge, but that's a pretty long title so we just call it 3-Minute Fudge. It's only 3 minutes to cook and 3 ingredients! Great to cut up and put in ice cream.
Green Onion Garlic Naan Bread
I am going to show you how to make naan Chef John-style—when I want it fast and I don't want to use yeast and wait for a dough to rise but I also want it just as good as if I did. While I originally tried this method to save time, it produces what might be my favorite style of naan. It really is incredible whether you use garlic and green onions, or not. As naan are made, they must be stacked and wrapped in a kitchen towel to keep them soft and supple.
