These tender grilled BBQ ribs have a delicious smoky flavor that Southerners expect without all the grilling time. The ribs are baked, then finished cooking on the grill and basted with a delicious homemade BBQ sauce.
Ingredients
- 4 pounds baby back pork ribs
- 0.67 cups water
- 0.33 cups red wine vinegar
- 1 cup ketchup
- 1 cup water
- 0.5 cups cider vinegar
- 0.33 cups Worcestershire sauce
- 0.25 cups prepared mustard
- 4 tablespoons butter
- 0.5 cups packed brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon hot pepper sauce
- 0.13 teaspoons salt
Instructions
-
1
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Place ribs in two 10x15-inch roasting pans. Pour water and red wine vinegar into a bowl; stir to mix and pour over ribs. Cover the pans with foil and bake in the preheated oven for 1 hour to 1 hour 15 minutes. Baste the ribs with juices halfway through cooking.
-

Meanwhile, make the BBQ sauce: Mix ketchup, water, vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, butter, brown sugar, hot pepper sauce, and salt together in a medium saucepan; bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer until sauce has thickened, about 1 hour.
-
3
Preheat an outdoor grill for medium heat.
-
4
Lightly oil preheated grill. Transfer ribs from the oven to the grill, discarding cooking liquid. Grill over medium heat for 15 minutes, turning ribs once. Baste ribs generously with some of the BBQ sauce, and grill for 5 minutes. Turn ribs, baste again with BBQ sauce, and grill 5 minutes more.

Halloween Pumpkin Stew
I am not sure where this recipe originated, but it has been a Halloween tradition in my husband's family for at least 20 years. It is a dinner we look forward to all year. Served with cornbread or sourdough rolls. Yum!
Citrus Carne Asada Marinade
I have used this recipe for a number of years, and most often marinate enough steak for a few meals. After the marinade time, the steak can be frozen in meal-sized portions for quick meals later. The flavor of this carne asada is much better, and the meat much more tender, than any I have had in Mexican restaurants. If cut in strips, this meat also works very well for fajitas. Serve with tortillas, Mexican rice, and beans.
