This teriyaki steak recipe uses skirt steak, which comes from the short plate. It comes in a long, thin strip or "skirt." Sometimes, it's hard to find, so ask your butcher if you don't see it out with the other meats.
Ingredients
- 2 pounds beef skirt steak
- 2 cups teriyaki sauce
- 4 cloves garlic , minced
Instructions
-
1
Cut skirt steak into individual strips.
-
2
Combine teriyaki sauce and garlic in a bowl; transfer to a resealable plastic bag. Add steak strips, coat with marinade, squeeze out excess air, and seal the bag. Marinate in the refrigerator 8 hours to overnight.
-
3
Set an oven rack about 6 inches from the heat source and preheat the oven's broiler (or preheat an outdoor grill and lightly oil the grate).
-
4
Remove steak strips from marinade and shake off excess. Discard remaining marinade.
-
5
Place meat on a broiler pan (or directly on the grill). Cook to desired doneness, about 5 minutes per side.

Spiralized Apple Salad
Let the spiralizer do all the work for you and then enjoy a fresh, crisp, crunchy apple salad with a mild vinaigrette dressing that comes together in minutes. You can use whatever apples you like just as long as they're fresh and have a firm texture. To keep the apples crisp, add the vinaigrette dressing right before serving.
Oatmeal Cream Pie
This recipe comes from my in-laws and it is one of a kind! The texture is great and each slice holds together nicely. Very reminiscent of pecan pie without the nuts. Serve warm with a scoop of ice cream or cold with some whipped cream on top! Warning: This pie is extremely sweet (and good that way)!
Chili Soup
We make this chili soup for our Sioux Center Christian School soup supper. It is designed to be easy and relatively inexpensive.
