Buttery, flaky, dramatically layered, these classic biscuits are a work of art, but they can be intimidating—and who wants a biscuit that falls flat? These recipes and expert tips from biscuit king Chadwick Boyd ensure you can't miss.

These herby ricotta biscuits are classic biscuits made savory. A great side dish or brunch item.
Iced Dried Cherry Biscuits
These buttery biscuits flavored with dried cherries and drizzled with icing are flaky and simply delicious. Resist peeking into the oven while the biscuits are baking – biscuits need consistent heat to rise and brown and any temperature fluctuation runs the risk of flat biscuits.

Dolly Parton and Rachel Parton George's famous biscuit recipe is the perfect addition to any party. Just don't skimp on the bacon grease!
Anise Biscotti
Delicious, with a hint of licorice flavor. You can store these in an airtight container for over a month.
Cherry Almond Biscotti

Mrs. P's Biscotti
This was given to me by my very best friend; it's her mother's recipe, and a wonderful basic biscotti recipe. Very rarely do I make them the same way twice. You can add dried cherries, cranberries, walnuts, toasted almonds, chocolate, white chocolate or cinnamon chips, or nothing at all -- It's good enough to stand on its own. I also change the flavorings and use almond or vanilla extracts. These will keep for a couple of weeks (if you're lucky) in your cookie jar!
Simple Double Chocolate Biscotti
These are a perfect treat with a cup of coffee for breakfast, with tea in the afternoon or for a light dessert. Fancy enough for company but simple enough to make every day. Adding coffee granules enhances the flavor of the chocolate. I like to melt 1/4 cup white chips in a quart size freezer bag, cut off one tiny corner and drizzle the melted chips over the top of the biscotti once they have cooled completely.
Christmas Biscotti
Fragrant orange oil gives a special touch to this biscotti recipe. Great with a cup of coffee on a chilly Christmas morning!
Chocolate Chocolate Biscotti
Wonderful double chocolate biscotti recipe. Like most biscotti, these store very well.
