Pizza Buns
The elementary school I attended back in the 1950s used to make these, and were a favorite of most everyone. My wife and I spent a lot of time trying to recreate these when we were first married. Our kids (now in their 30s) still request these when they come to visit. We use canned pizza sauce but spice it up. Leftovers are easily reheated in the toaster oven.
Coney Island Knishes
Knishes are one of my earliest notable food experiences. I remember eating potato knishes with my dad in Coney Island. Who wouldn't enjoy mashed potatoes in a warm, flaky pastry? Leftover corned beef really shines in these, but anything goes, as long as the base is mashed potato spiked with onions and fried in lots of fat.
Syrian Bread
Mix the dough in your bread machine and bake in the oven. A versatile Middle Eastern style flat bread that you can serve with lunch or dinner.
