As if you needed another reason to love bacon. Don't miss this sweet and savory appetizer from Russ Crandall of The Domestic Man.
Ingredients
- 12 ounces bacon strips , cut into thirds crosswise
- 1.5 pounds sweet potatoes , peeled and cut in 1/2-inch cubes
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 tablespoon melted butter
- 0.25 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 1 pinch black pepper
- 1 pinch Sea salt to taste
- 1 sheet Reynolds Wrap® Aluminum Foil
Instructions
-
1
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F. Line a rimmed baking sheet with Reynolds Wrap® Aluminum Foil. Set aside.
-
2
Wrap each sweet potato cube with a bacon slice, holding in place with a toothpick. Place on the prepared baking sheet, toothpicks facing up.
-
3
Combine the olive oil, melted butter, cinnamon and pepper, stirring until well mixed. Drizzle the mixture over the sweet potato bites. Sprinkle with sea salt. Loosely tent the toothpicks with damp paper towels and wrap the baking sheet with Reynolds Wrap® Aluminum Foil, being careful not to pierce the foil. Bake until the potatoes are just tender, about 20 minutes.
-
4
Remove the foil and paper towels and return to the oven; bake until the bacon is crispy and the fat starts to render, 15-20 more minutes. Blot the excess fat with the paper towels, then serve.

Simple Ground Venison Taco Meat
Toss that season packet aside and try this simple recipe instead. Not only does it utilize pantry staples but you also know exactly what is in it. Adding acid to the venison minimizes any gamey flavor it might have had. Serve in taco shells with your favorite toppings.
Macaroni and Cheese
This is my mom's recipe for easy baked macaroni and cheese with a bread crumb topping. There's dry mustard in the mac and cheese for zip. It is great! You can make it more or less cheesy, depending on your taste.
Green Grog
We like to call it the green drink. It's sweet, it's sour, it's tasty and it packs a real punch so go slow.
