My mother always made these bonbons around Christmas time. Now, I love to carry on the tradition of this delicious sweet confection.
Ingredients
- 1 cup butter or margarine , softened
- 2 pounds confectioners' sugar , sifted
- 1 can sweetened condensed milk , 14 ounce
- 3 cups flaked coconut
- 1 cup finely chopped walnuts
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 package semisweet chocolate chips , 12 ounce
- 2 tablespoons shortening
Instructions
-
1
Mix butter, confectioners' sugar, condensed milk, coconut, chopped walnuts, and vanilla in a large bowl until well combined. Cover and chill in the refrigerator until mixture has thickened enough to roll into balls, about 2 hours.
-
2
Roll bonbon mixture into 1-inch balls and place close together, but not touching, on cookie sheets. Freeze until hard.
-
3
While bonbons are freezing, line a cookie sheet or flat surface with waxed paper. Combine chocolate chips and shortening in the top of a double boiler, over simmering water; stir until melted.
-
4
Dip each bonbon in the melted chocolate using a toothpick or a fork. Place on waxed paper to dry.

Secret Recipe Chicken Fricassee
This was my Grandma's secret family recipe from her French ancestors. I have never seen a recipe like this on any site. It's a rich creamy sauce over chicken...great with mashed potatoes. A great dish for Easter or Christmas.
Penne with Chicken and Asparagus
This chicken and asparagus pasta is light but super tasty. Made with fresh asparagus and seasoned chicken.
Ras Malai
Ras Malai is cheese dumplings in cream sauce. This is a popular Indian dessert and takes a long time to prepare the traditional way. I came up with some shortcuts and ended up with this recipe which tastes exactly the same as traditional Ras Malai.
