This was the DIY pancake syrup I grew up with. It tastes fabulous without all the extra work of getting real tapped maple syrup. It's also a cheaper way to have syrup, as these are things I always have in my cupboard.
Ingredients
- 2 cups white sugar
- 0.5 cups brown sugar
- 1 cup water
- 0.5 teaspoons maple flavored extract
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
-
1
In a saucepan, combine white sugar, brown sugar, and water. Bring to a boil, and cook for about 3 minutes.
-
2
Stir in maple extract and vanilla, and remove form the heat. Let cool.
-
3
Serve at room temperature. Store in a sealed container in the refrigerator. (It may crystallize a little if the container is not completely airtight.)

Easy Cake Pops
Tasty, easy-making, and perfect for kids.
Chef John's Banana Bread
This banana bread by Chef John is spiked with dark chocolate chips and walnuts. Banana bread is one of those things people rarely make on purpose — only when those last 3 bananas are almost black. However, this scrumptious loaf is so good you'll want to make it well before the bananas reach that condition.
Cranberry Orange Cookies
These cranberry orange cookies are nice to have during the holidays, but don't expect them to stay around long. These orange-flavored cranberry cookies are tart and delicious, not to mention beautiful. Not really a favorite of kids.
