This coconut and pecan frosting is great on many cakes, not the least of which is German chocolate cake.
Ingredients
- 1 cup evaporated milk
- 1 cup white sugar
- 3 large egg yolks
- 0.5 cups unsalted butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1.5 cups flaked coconut
- 1 cup chopped pecans

Gather the ingredients.

Combine milk, sugar, egg yolks, butter, and vanilla in a saucepan over medium heat. Cook, stirring frequently, until thickened, 10 to 15 minutes.

Remove from heat and stir in coconut and pecans.
