Wake up the standard brandy Alexander. This version adds fresh-brewed coffee and complex, bittersweet amaro—and flexes as a warm or iced cocktail. You can use other types of amaro, such as Nonino Quintessentia or Montenegro.
Ingredients
- ice
- 2 ounces brewed coffee , cooled
- 1 ounce brandy
- 0.75 ounces creme de cacao
- 0.5 ounces half and half
- 4.25 ounces Amaro Averna
- 3 whole coffee beans
- nutmeg , for garnish

Fill a cocktail shaker half full with ice. Add coffee, brandy, crème de cacao, half-and-half, and Amaro Averna. Cover and shake until very cold.

Strain into a cocktail glass. Garnish with coffee beans and/ or nutmeg.
