Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 0.25 teaspoons seasoning salt , or more to taste
- salt and ground black pepper to taste
- 2 large eggs
- 2 tablespoons milk
- 2 beefs top sirloin steaks , 6 ounce
- 1 cup vegetable oil for frying , or as needed
- 2 cups cold water
- 1 package country gravy mix , 2.64 ounce
Instructions

1
Pour flour into a mixing bowl and season generously with seasoning salt, salt, and pepper.

2
Whisk eggs and milk together in a separate bowl.

3
Place steaks on a cutting board between two layers of plastic wrap; beat with a meat tenderizer on both sides for 3 to 5 minutes.
-
4
Discard plastic wrap and sprinkle seasoning salt on top of steaks. Dip steaks in flour mixture until coated on both sides. Dip into egg mixture, then back into flour mixture a second time; steaks should be completely covered in flour on both sides. Sprinkle again with seasoning salt.

Fill a large skillet halfway with vegetable oil and heat to medium-high. Allow oil to heat to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
-
6
Fry steaks in the hot oil for 3 minutes per side. Remove to a paper towel-lined plate to drain.
-
7
While steaks are frying, stir water into gravy mix in 2-quart microwavable bowl. Microwave on high until thickened, stirring every minute, 4 to 6 minutes total.
-
8
Serve hot steaks with gravy.

Split Pea Soup without Pork
To make a delicious Pea Soup without all the fat simply substitute chicken stock for most of the liquid in your favorite recipe! The soup will cook down and be flavorful, though mild in taste. My family loves this substitute!
Easy Cabbage Pockets
I grew up in a town that was filled with Wolgadeutsche, or Germans from Russia. Family members and friends of the family made these cabbage pockets, sometimes called Krautbrot or Bierocks. This is a perfect food for lunches, as it is self contained and freezes well. I have changed it slightly to make it easier to make and enjoy. I love mine served hot, with ketchup for dipping!
