Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and stir in the ground beef and ground pork. Cook and stir until the meat is crumbly, evenly browned, and no longer pink. Drain and discard any excess grease. Set meat aside. Melt the butter in the pot over medium heat. Stir in the garlic, bell pepper, and onion; cook and stir until the onion has softened and turned translucent, about 5 minutes. Stir in the cooked meat, pinto beans, tomatoes, parsley, chili powder, pepper, monosodium glutamate, salt, and cumin. Cover and bring to a boil, then reduce heat, and simmer for 1 hour.

Easy Asparagus Frittata
I love making a frittata whenever I want a quick meal. I always have eggs in the fridge, and you can use a variety of vegetables. I like asparagus the best, though.
Brussels Sprouts Gratin
A great way to have Brussels sprouts with a little more flair. The cream takes away the bitterness you usually find in Brussels. This is a family favorite during the holidays!
Chef John's Shrimp Fra Diavolo
Shrimp fra diavolo, "shrimp brother devil" if we are being literal for comic effect, is really good and turns any pile of pasta or rice into a memorable meal. Some people like to add a little lemon, but I don't think it needs it unless your white wine is too sweet.
