- 0.13 teaspoons cayenne pepper
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 0.5 teaspoons pepper
- 0.5 cups water
- 1 pie crust deep dish
- 2 cups sharp Cheddar cheese or Mexican cheese blend , divided
- 1 cup refried beans
- 1 can diced green chiles , 4 ounce
- 2 tablespoons hot sauce or taco sauce
- 2 cups doritos nacho cheese tortilla chips
- shredded lettuce
Instructions
-
1
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).

2
Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add onion and 1/2 teaspoon salt and cook, stirring constantly, for 2 minutes. Add ground beef in one layer, crumbling slightly with a wooden spoon to spread it into the skillet. Cook, undisturbed, until browned, about 5 minutes.

Stir and continue cooking until beef is no longer pink. Season with remaining salt, chili powder, cumin, cayenne, garlic powder, onion powder, and pepper and cook for 1 minute. Add water and cook for 2 minutes, scraping pan to release any browned bits. Remove from heat and set aside.
-
4
Spread beans over the bottom of the pie crust. Sprinkle 1/2 cup cheese evenly over the beans. Top with ground beef mixture, green chiles, hot sauce, and 3/4 cup cheese.
-
5
Cover with foil and bake in the preheated oven until bubbly and crust is golden brown, about 30 minutes.
-
6
Uncover, top with remaining cheese and crushed chips and return to the oven, Bake until bubbly and cheese has melted and chips have very lightly browned, about 5 more minutes. Let stand for 5 to 10 minutes before serving with toppings of choice and more hot sauce if desired.

Cast Iron Chicken Fajitas
When you don't want to grill outside, use this recipe and a cast-iron skillet on your stovetop to create great-tasting chicken fajitas. You'll need a relatively large skillet, at least 12 inches or larger, to handle the chicken and all the vegetables. Don't forget that last squeeze of lime juice over everything; it adds just the right touch! Serve fajitas with toppings like salsa, pico de gallo, shredded cheese, sour cream, and guacamole.
Apple Cider Chicken
This apple cider chicken could not be simpler or more delicious. Chicken breasts cook first in sage-infused butter, then return to a sweet-sour pan sauce of reduced apple cider and vinegar. The pan sauce is then finished to glistening perfection in the classic French style with a chunk of cold butter.
