A family recipe we have used for years. We love it as a side dish to our turkey on Thanksgiving day. Also goes well on chicken, pork, and beef. Makes a great treat as an appetizer served with crackers, or can even be used over vanilla ice cream. I like to add the orange zest a couple tablespoons at a time, as not to overdo it. Adjust sweetness by adding 1 tablespoon sugar at a time at the end of cooking if needed.
Ingredients
- 1.5 cups white sugar , or more to taste
- 1 cup freshly squeezed orange juice
- 1 package cranberries , 12 ounce
- 1 jigger tequila , 1.5 fluid ounce
- 1.5 oranges , zested
Instructions

Heat a saucepan over medium heat; cook and stir sugar, orange juice, half the cranberries, and tequila in the warmed saucepan until mixture is slightly reduced, about 20 minutes. Add the remaining cranberries and orange zest; cook and stir until cranberries begin to pop, 10 to 15 minutes.

Italian Sausage and Mushroom Lasagna with Béchamel Sauce
The béchamel adds a little something special to this wonderful sausage-mushroom lasagna. I like using part-skim ricotta, mozzarella, and low-fat milk to cut some of the fat in this dish. You won't notice the difference.
True Pilgrim Stuffing
I am a direct descendent of the Linells who came across on the Mayflower. Our family has always had the absolute most awesome stuffing, and I finally got the recipe handed down to me. It's so good I can't keep it a secret. Try it once and you'll agree it's the best you ever had, and it's so easy to make.
Haupia and Purple Sweet Potato Pie
Like auntie used to make when we were visiting--broke da mouth! (Very yummy and reminds me of home). This recipe has a shortbread crust topped with a smooth, sweet layer of purple potatoes, and a rich coconut cream. Serve cold.
