Ingredients
- 0.33 cups shortening
- 0.5 cups white sugar
- 1 egg
- 0.5 cups molasses
- 0.5 cups water
- 2 cups self-rising flour
- 0.5 teaspoons salt
- 1 teaspoon ground ginger
- 0.5 teaspoons ground nutmeg
- 0.5 teaspoons ground cloves
- 0.5 teaspoons ground cinnamon
Instructions

Cream the shortening, sugar, egg, molasses and water. Mix in the flour, salt, ginger, nutmeg, cloves and cinnamon. Cover and chill for 1 hour.

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (205 degrees C).

Drop teaspoonfuls of dough onto ungreased cookie sheets about 2 inches apart. Bake for about 8 minutes.

I had been looking for a recipe for restaurant-quality enchiladas with sour cream sauce, and my friend's grandma gave me this one that's made with ingredients that are lower in fat and calories. It's so simple to make! If you don't like really spicy foods, the optional items listed can be removed from the recipe and the dish is just as yummy.
