I always receive huge compliments when I make this tweaked version of the usual green bean casserole with frozen beans. The secret to this version is the added Swiss cheese. It is one of my favorite dishes for the holidays or anytime. True comfort food!
Ingredients
- 1 package frozen cut green beans , 16-ounce
- 1 can condensed cream of mushroom soup , 10.5-ounce
- 0.5 cups milk , or more to taste
- 0.5 cups sour cream
- 0.5 cups shredded Swiss cheese
- 1 package French-fried onions , 2.8-ounce
- 1 teaspoon garlic salt
- 1 teaspoon soy sauce
- ground black pepper to taste

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).

Mix green beans, condensed soup, 1/2 cup milk, sour cream, Swiss cheese, 1/2 of the French-fried onions, garlic salt, soy sauce, and pepper together in a large casserole dish.

Cover and bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes. If desired, add more milk halfway through for a creamier consistency.

Top with remaining onions and bake, uncovered, until bubbly, about 15 minutes more.
