This hometown drive-in pasta salad recipe is from a small drive-in dairy bar in our town, which has been closed for some time. My kids really missed their pasta salad, but the ingredients were listed on a board inside the drive-in, so I worked on trying to recreate it. It's finally right, and I thought I would share it. We like this at room temperature, but it certainly can be refrigerated.

- 2 tablespoons hot water

- 1 large tomato , diced
- 1 red bell pepper , diced
- 0.25 cups finely diced sweet onion
- 1 package shredded sharp Cheddar cheese , 8 ounce

Bagna Cauda
A family friend made bagna cauda for me and it has been my favorite dipping sauce since. If you like garlic, you'll love this! It's traditionally served warm with crusty Italian bread, endive, or roasted potatoes on Christmas Eve.
Andouille Sausage and Corn Chowder
This Cajun corn chowder is slightly spicy, smoky, and hearty. A dear friend gave me the recipe many years ago — the original source is unknown. I have adapted it to suit my family's tastes. If you prefer a thicker chowder, you can stir in a can of creamed corn. Serve with cornbread or a crusty French loaf for a lovely meal.
