These homemade turkey sausage patties are leaner and have less sodium than most commercially prepared patties, plus they can be seasoned in a variety of ways, simply by choosing a different salt-free seasoning—try Italian, taco, curry, or ras-el-hanout seasoning to spice up your breakfast.
Ingredients
- 1 pound lean ground turkey
- 0.5 cups apple
- 1 teaspoon salt-free seasoning
- 0.75 teaspoons black pepper
- 0.25 teaspoons salt
Instructions
-
1
Stir together ground turkey, apple, salt-free seasoning, pepper, and salt in a large bowl until well combined. Shape mixture into 6 (1/4-inch-thick) patties, 4 inches in diameter (about 3 ounces per patty). Coat both sides of patties with cooking spray.
-
2
Heat a very large nonstick skillet over medium heat. Working in batches if needed, add patties and cook, turning halfway through, until browned on both sides and an instant-read thermometer inserted into centers registers 165 degrees F (74 degrees C), about 6 minutes.
-
3
Remove from skillet; cover to keep warm.

Sheet Pan Za'atar Chicken Thighs and Vegetables
This sheet pan za'atar chicken thighs and vegetables is a great introduction to the flavor of za'atar, a warm spice blend from the Middle East, usually a combination of sesame seeds, sumac, thyme, and oregano, and possibly sea salt. Chicken thighs roast on a bed of zucchini, yellow summer squash, red bell pepper, and red onion, and if you like, cherry tomatoes. If you already know you love za'atar, feel free to add more!
Easter Carrot Cheese Log
No carrots are in it, but this eye-catching appetizer was a big hit this Easter (2015). Not too salty and not too spicy... just right! And for me the hostess, it was quick and easy to make - an extra bonus! Serve with crackers, pita chips, or toast. Create your own shape to accent your next holiday or special occasion table.

This Instant Pot shepherd's pie is a family-friendly meal made with ground beef instead of lamb. Use a multi-function pressure cooker to prepare the filling and potatoes, then broil the assembled pie in the oven.
