This chocolate sauce is a great hot fudge topping for almost any chocolate dessert. My mom gave me this recipe with a note that said, "Use this sauce over brownies and vanilla ice cream to make a delicious dessert." It was a favorite of mine from college.

Ingredients

  • 4 squaress unsweetened chocolate , 1 ounce
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 0.13 teaspoons salt
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 0.5 teaspoons vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. 1

Place chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl. Cook on high for 1 to 2 minutes, stirring frequently, until mostly melted. Transfer chocolate to a heavy-bottomed saucepan over low heat. Stir in sugar, butter, and salt until combined.

  2. 2

Stir in cream, a little at a time, until smooth. Heat through, without boiling, then remove from heat and stir in vanilla. Store sauce in the refrigerator.
