I came up with this kohlrabi and apple slaw recipe when my husband decided to grow our own kohlrabi and I had never had it before. This makes a different but tasty slaw that will go well with most everything.
Ingredients
- 0.75 cups mayonnaise
- 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon prepared mustard
- 1 teaspoon white sugar
- 4 kohlrabis bulbs , peeled and grated
- 4 apples , peeled, cored, and diced
- salt and ground black pepper to taste
Instructions
-
1
Whisk mayonnaise, vinegar, lemon juice, mustard, and sugar together in a bowl.
-
2
Toss kohlrabi and apples together in a large bowl. Add mayonnaise dressing, toss to coat, and season with salt and black pepper.

Grilled Leg of Lamb Steaks
My mother shared this recipe for leg of lamb steaks. The first time I tried leg steaks, I found them to be a delicious and very tender cut of lamb.
Empanada Filling
This is my grandmother's recipe for Peruvian beef empanada filling. Use homemade pie crust or, in a pinch, refrigerated pie crust to make these Peruvian turnovers. Lightly dust powdered sugar over the baked empanadas and serve with lime wedges for authentic flair.
Balsamic Glazed Carrots
Carrots are sauteed in olive oil, and then briefly tossed with balsamic vinegar and brown sugar in this deceptively simple side dish.
