Homemade maple sausage made with ground pork and seasonings. Great cooked in crumbles for biscuits and gravy, or in patties for breakfast sandwiches or eggs Benedict. I like to premake a large batch and freeze the patties, then just take out a few the night before.
Ingredients
- 2.5 pounds ground pork
- 0.25 cups maple syrup
- 1.5 tablespoons chopped fresh sage
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 2.5 teaspoons fennel seed
- 2.5 teaspoons red pepper flakes
- 2.5 teaspoons garlic powder
- 2.5 teaspoons onion powder
- 1 teaspoon anise seed
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
Instructions
-
1
Mix pork, maple syrup, sage, salt, fennel seed, red pepper flakes, garlic powder, onion powder, and anise seed in a large bowl until evenly blended. Shape pork mixture into small patties.
-
2
Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat; fry patties in batches until pork is browned and no longer pink in the center, 4 to 5 minutes per side.

Got No Beef Stew
Got no beef? That's ok, because I am going to show you how to make something that looks like beef stew, eats like beef stew, and kinda sorta tastes like beef stew without having to use any beef. And whether you're making this because beef is just too expensive, or you are trying to cut down on the amount of beef you eat, or you just enjoy bad grammar โ no matter the reason, I really do think you're going to enjoy this! Serve with buttered bread.
