This green tea ice cream is made with real matcha powder. I created the recipe based on the sweet cream base from Ben and Jerry's.
Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon matcha green tea powder , or more to taste
- 1 cup whole milk
- 2 cups heavy whipping cream
- 0.75 cups white sugar
- 2 large eggs
Instructions
-
1
Gather all ingredients.
-
2
Whisk matcha powder in a bowl to remove any lumps. Add a splash of milk and whisk until matcha powder is completely dissolved. Gradually whisk in remaining milk.
-
3
Transfer matcha mixture to a pot. Add cream and cook over medium-low heat, stirring occasionally, until heated through, about 5 minutes.
-
4
Whisk sugar and eggs together in a bowl. Pour 1/2 cup hot matcha mixture into egg mixture, whisking quickly until thoroughly combined. Repeat with remaining matcha mixture. Pour mixture back into the pot.
-
5
Cook and stir matcha mixture over medium-low heat until heated through, about 3 minutes. Remove from the heat and cool to room temperature, about 20 minutes. Refrigerate until chilled, at least 2 hours.
-
6
Pour chilled matcha mixture into an ice cream maker and freeze according to the manufacturer's instructions, about 20 minutes.
-
7
Serve or transfer to an airtight container and freeze until desired consistency is reached.

Dill Dip
A delicious dill dip! My mother gave me this recipe and told me never to share it, but I think everyone should enjoy it. This dip is definitely better if you make it one day ahead. It can be easily halved because it makes so much.
Chicken Shepherd's Pie
This a fabulous one-pan meal. Serve with a salad and French bread. Just use left over fried, baked, or grilled chicken. You may substitute your family's favorite vegetable in place of corn. Potatoes and roasted garlic can be done 1 to 2 days ahead. If preference is to use dried spices, then use 1/2 teaspoon each of thyme and rosemary. Use any cheese of your choice.
Cold Crawfish Dip
This is a make-the-day before crawfish dip recipe that is out of this world! Very rich and great for parties or get-togethers as it makes a lot. Serve on crackers.
