Homemade hard candy is a great gift idea that you can make with any extracts, flavorings, and colorings you like to match the occasion.
Ingredients
- 0.5 cups confectioners' sugar for dusting
- 2 cups white sugar
- 1 cup water
- 0.67 cups light corn syrup
- 1 teaspoon peppermint oil , or other flavored oil
- 1 teaspoon any color food coloring
Instructions
-
1
Generously coat a cookie sheet with confectioners' sugar, and set aside.
-
2
In a heavy bottomed saucepan, stir together the white sugar, water and corn syrup until sugar has dissolved. Bring to a boil over medium-high and cook to a temperature of 300 to 310 degrees F (149 to 154 degrees C), or until a small amount of syrup dropped into cold water forms hard, brittle threads. Remove from heat, and stir in the flavored oil and food coloring.
-
3
Immediately pour the sugar mixture onto the prepared cookie sheet in a thin stream (this helps it cool). When the candy is cool enough for the outer edge to hold its shape, cut into bite size pieces with scissors. Let cool completely, then store in an airtight container.

Two-Ingredient Ranch Kosher Dill Pickle Spears
This was all the rage on the internet, so I had to give it a shot because it seemed too good to be true. Turns out, all you need is a jar of pickles and a packet of ranch salad dressing, and you are in for a treat. This is a must for a picnic or backyard BBQ. It doesn't get any easier than this!
Easy Chicken Taquitos
Make taquitos, or rolled tacos, at home with this super easy recipe that uses canned or rotisserie chicken, cheese, and hot pepper sauce. The filling is easy to adjust — add sliced jalapeños if you prefer lots of heat. Bake until crisp and serve as an appetizer or side dish with your favorite salsa. You can also serve them as a main course topped with lettuce, tomato, olives, sour cream, and more.

This is a simple, basic bean soup. It's very easy to assemble, and it tastes great, too! Try adding other vegetables, if desired.
