This orange French toast bake is a fresh twist on a breakfast classic that is bursting with subtle citrus flavor, a perfect recipe if you're feeding a large group. You're not standing at a stove frying French toast, and everything comes out of the oven, hot and ready to serve at once.
Ingredients
- 4 large eggs
- 0.5 cups milk
- 0.25 cups white sugar
- 0.25 cups riple Sec
- 1/2 orange , zested and juiced
- 1 teaspoon orange extract
- 0.25 teaspoons salt
- 0.13 teaspoons nutmeg
- 12 slices cinnamon raisin bread
- 1 tablespoon confectioners sugar , optional
- 2 tablespoons maple syrup , or as needed
Instructions
-
1
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Lightly grease two large baking sheets or line with parchment paper, lightly sprayed with cooking spray, which will keep the bread from sticking.
-
2
In a bowl, whisk eggs until light in color. Add milk, sugar, orange liqueur, orange juice, orange zest, orange extract, salt, and nutmeg, whisking until well combined.
-
3
Coat bread slices in the egg custard, and place on the baking sheets without overlapping. Bake until golden brown, flipping halfway through baking time, about 15 minutes.
-
4
To serve, sprinkle with confectioners sugar and drizzle with maple syrup.

Patriotic Berry Trifle
You can change this recipe up lots of ways - use fresh made whipped cream, any mix of berries you like, and swap out the vanilla pudding for cheesecake flavor if you'd like. You can use pound cake in place of angel food cake if you prefer - but I like the light texture of the angel food cake for this one!
Eight-Day Icicle Pickles
When I was in grade 3, my teacher had our class make these eight-day icicle pickles. My mom copied the recipe, and I have hung on to it ever since!
Angie's Dad's Best Cabbage Coleslaw
An absolutely delicious coleslaw, more tart and tangy than the creamy kind. Can make this up to 2 weeks ahead of serving and it only gets better.
