This ploughman's sandwich recalls the classic British ploughman's cold meal, often eaten for laborers' midday break when working in the fields. These days it's a popular lunch served in UK pubs.
Ingredients
- 2 slices bread
- 1 teaspoon butter
- arugula
- 2 sweets gherkin pickles
- 3 slices smoked ham
- 2 slices white Cheddar cheese
- 1 small tomato
- 1 teaspoon mustard

Lightly butter both slices of bread.

Layer the arugula, pickles, ham, Cheddar, and tomatoes on one slice of buttered bread. Spread the mustard on the remaining buttered bread slice, and place on top. Cut sandwich in half, and serve.

This meat pie is delicious! I got it from my husband's mother. She is French so I believe this is a French meat pie recipe. Beef, pork, and potato are all nicely spiced and baked together. It's yummy and pretty easy to make too! It's best served fresh, but you can also make it ahead and freeze or refrigerate it. Serve the pie by itself or with a beef gravy.
