This recipe for chess squares is similar to many others I've seen, but in my opinion, these are the best! They are also great for bake sales when individually wrapped.
Ingredients
- cooking spray with flour
- 1 package yellow cake mix , 15.25 ounce
- 1 cup unsalted butter , melted
- 1 large egg
- 1 cup chopped pecans
Instructions
-
1
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Spray a 9x13-inch baking pan with floured cooking spray.
-
2
Make the crust: Mix cake mix, melted butter, and egg together in a bowl. Stir in pecans. Press mixture into the bottom of the prepared pan.
-
3
Make the filling: Beat cream cheese and confectioners' sugar in a mixing bowl with an electric mixer until smooth. Beat in eggs, one at a time, until blended. Pour over crust and spread in an even layer.
-
4
Bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes. Remove from the oven and let cool completely in the pan before cutting into 24 squares.
