The Tom and Jerry drink is a holiday favorite in my family. The batter makes an excellent topping for both alcoholic cocktails as well as hot cocoa, eggnog, or warm milk for the kids. The batter can be frozen or kept in the refrigerator for several weeks.
Ingredients
- 12 large eggs , separated, divided
- 0.5 teaspoons salt
- 1 pound butter , room temperature
- 3 pounds confectioners' sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1 teaspoon ground allspice
Instructions
-
1
Gather all ingredients.
-
2
Beat egg whites and salt in a large glass or metal mixing bowl until stiff peaks form. Lift your beater or whisk straight up: the egg whites should form a sharp peak that holds its shape.
-
3
Beat egg yolks in a separate large bowl.
-
4
Beat butter and confectioners' sugar in a third large bowl until light and fluffy; beat in egg yolks and vanilla. Stir in nutmeg, cloves, allspice, and beaten egg whites until well blended.
-
5
Scoop batter onto drink of choice.

Grilled Pork Tenderloins with Mango-Pineapple Salsa
These grilled pork tenderloins with mango-pineapple salsa are perfect for summer grilling. Because of their size and tenderness, you will use an indirect method to grill them after searing. While the grill is heating up, make the sweet-tangy salsa.
Cajun Shrimp and Sausage Sheet Pan Dinner
You might call this Cajun shrimp and sausage sheet pan dinner a shrimp boil without the water, or maybe a gumbo without the roux. With so many vegetables, a simple green salad will complete this dinner nicely, along with some crusty French bread.
Avocado Shrimp Ceviche
This classic shrimp ceviche recipe cures fresh shrimp in lime juice. The shrimp is mixed with juicy tomatoes, onion, cilantro, avocado, and a special sauce for a delicious, light, and refreshing appetizer. Perfect on a sunny day with an ice-cold beer on the side. Of course, most Latinos (especially my wife) can make a good ceviche blindfolded on any day, rain or shine!
