I invented this recipe last year and my family continues to beg for more. If you like, you can substitute pecans for the walnuts.
Ingredients
- 1.25 cups all-purpose flour
- 0.5 cups white sugar
- 0.5 cups packed brown sugar
- 0.25 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 0.5 cups butter , softened
- 0.75 cups chopped walnuts
Instructions
-
1
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Grease cookie sheets.
-
2
In a medium bowl, stir together the flour, white sugar, brown sugar, and baking soda. Add the egg, vanilla, and butter; mix until dough forms. Stir in the chopped walnuts. Roll dough into 1 inch balls and place 2 inches apart onto the prepared cookie sheets.
-
3
Bake for 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven, until the edges are golden brown. Allow cookies to cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes before removing to a wire rack to cool completely.

Fluffy Banana Cake
This is another one of my mother's old recipes.
Rhubarb Dum Dum
This rhubarb dum dum recipe yields a delicate, delightful, and simple rhubarb cake that's real comfort food. I make it when I am in a hurry, like when company is coming or I have a hankering to have some dessert. This cake works well with apples and berries, too. Enjoy it warm with frozen yogurt.
10-Minute Mushroom Carbonara
This mushroom carbonara recipe is a quick and easy upgrade to a weeknight spaghetti dinner. Once your water is boiling, this dish can be on your plate in just 10 minutes. I tend to make this low-sodium, but you may want to add salt to the pasta water and to the mushrooms while they are cooking.
