Northern Italian Beef Stew
This hearty beef and vegetable stew that can be made in the slow-cooker is a family favorite. It is also the backbone for an excellent beef soup, if you actually find yourself with leftovers.
Beef Bourguignon I
This rich beef bourguignon smells incredible as it cooks and brings my teenaged boys running! Serve this hearty yet fancy dish with potatoes, noodles, or rice.
Ropa Vieja (Cuban Beef)
This Cuban braised beef dish literally translates to 'old clothes,' because apparently some people thought the fall-apart meat and colorful strips of onions and peppers, tangled together, looked like old, tattered clothing. You'll love this dish if you're into big, bold flavors, since there's nothing subtle about the seasoning here. Delicious served with beans, rice, and plantain chips. Garnish with more cilantro.
Slow Cooker Ground Beef Stew
Incorporating ideas from other reviewers, I adapted a skillet ground beef stew recipe to a slow cooker version when we needed a meal ready when we got home. We loved this over hot biscuits. It's the ultimate comfort food with veggies included! Don't let the spices scare you or skimp on them; they make this a delicious meal!
Puerto Rican Sancocho
Sancocho is Puerto Rican comfort food! This is my mom's recipe that she serves with bread to soak up the delicious flavor. The mix of vegetables and herbs in this stew was influenced by Spanish Canary Island ancestors of some Puerto Rican families, then adjusted to the vegetables available in Puerto Rico, such as corn, pumpkin, and plantains.
Classic, Hearty Beef Stew
This hearty beef stew is rich, satisfying, and packed with tender beef, lots of vegetables, and fragrant herbs.
Puerto Rican Canned Corned Beef Stew
This stew recipe is simple, easy, and quick with corned beef in a can and other common pantry items. The end result is delicious and satisfying. Serve it over white rice with sweet fried plantains on the side.
Prime Rib Stew
This is a great stew recipe to use up any prime rib leftovers after Christmas. Serve with garlic rolls.
Beef Bourguignon Without the Burgundy
This beef bourguignon recipe made with Merlot is one of my favorites and a take-off on the venerable French dish of beef braised in Burgundy wine. Serve over mashed potatoes.
Sweet and Sour Cabbage Soup
This hearty sweet and sour cabbage soup is my version of an old favorite Ashkenazi Jewish recipe. I make a stock first, then make the soup. This allows for de-fatting the soup, but you need to make this on two days, so time accordingly. Using savoy cabbage gives the soup superlative texture and flavor.
Asian-Themed Beef and Rice Noodle Soup
A wonderful soup for using up leftover steak with a kick of ginger. Try not to eat the entire pot before anyone else shows up for dinner!
Big Papa's Homemade Beef Stew
Big Papa's homemade beef stew recipe is my absolute favorite. I spent the better part of two years changing and altering ingredients until it was perfect. I hope you enjoy it; everyone I've fed it to does!
