Delicious O.J. Punch
Orange juice, bourbon and lemon-lime soda are stirred together in this quick, easy, and quite tasty punch. I have never had a complaint about this one.
The Deb (Peach-Basil Bourbon Smash) Cocktail
A juicy way to wind down after a busy day, and a good way to use up ripe peaches. Made and named for my friend Deb on her birthday. The peach-basil syrup makes 2 1/2 cups, enough for 8 to 10 cocktails. It keeps in the fridge for up to 3 weeks.
Frozen Mint Julep Margarita
Two classic cocktails combine for a perfect summertime margarita with the not-too-sweet and not-too-tart taste of a mint julep.
Basil Gimlet
This tried-and-true gin and lime cocktail is made even more refreshing by adding a few muddled basil leaves. Make sure you start with a chilled coupe glass.
The REAL Long Island Iced Tea
There are a few impostors out there that claim to be Long Island Iced Teas. In actuality, there is only one correct way to make a LIIT... and this is it!
Spanish Gin and Tonic (Gin Tonica)
I'm going to show you my take on the gin and tonic, the most refreshing hot-weather cocktail ever. Made in a style invented by chefs from the Basque region of Spain, the whole idea is to add things to the glass to make things that already taste great in the gin taste even more amazing. I encourage you to try some different gins, and decide on your own custom garnishes.
Blue Motorcycle
This blue motorcycle drink is a boozy cocktail that's kind of like a Long Island iced tea, but with a colorful twist!
Singapore Sling Cocktail
This Singapore sling recipe is potent. Variations of the classic Singapore sling abound but mix up one of these sweet cocktails with this recipe, and you'll be pleased with the results.
Gin and Tonic
Gin and tonic made in a highball glass with ice, lime juice, and a lime wedge. So refreshing!
DIY Finnish Lonkero (a.k.a. Long Drink)
My family recently went on a vacation to Finland. In addition to enjoying the food and scenery, many of us fell in love with the lonkero, or long drink. This is a strictly Finnish drink made by combining cheap gin with citrus. The most common flavor is grapefruit, which is reproduced here. Lonkero is not sold in the US so I decided to try to copy it by referring to web sites from other tourists who tried to copy it and reading the ingredients on the company's web site.
Sweet Bourbon Sipper
I fell in love with a drink at our local bourbon bar, so I came home to try and make it myself. Combined with lime and cherry flavors, the bourbon flavors stay strong. This recipe calls for dark Morello cherries, but feel free to try it with Amarena cherries or the cherries of your choice.
Mint Julep
The mint julep cocktail is made with bourbon and sweetened with simple syrup. I like to use a minty homemade simple syrup which you can make ahead with this recipe and store in the refrigerator. This refreshing cocktail deserves to be served in frozen silver goblets or the most elegant glasses you have โ perfect for Kentucky Derby viewing!
