Pumpkin Conchas
A seasonal twist on this famous Mexican sweet bread that is perfect for breakfast or brunch during pumpkin season.
Adjarian Khachapuri
Khachapuri is a pillowy, boat-shape bread with a filling of creamy cheeses and sunny egg yolks. This Georgian cheese flatbread is traditionally made with sunflower oil. If you can't find it, substitute a neutral-tasting oil, such as grapeseed or canola oil. To serve, either slice the boats crosswise or tear off pieces of the bread and dip them into the rich, cheesy filing.
Ezekiel Bread
This Ezekiel bread is the bread that Ezekiel lived off of while he was in the desert for two years. It is supposed to be nutritionally complete. The recipe calls for grinding your own flour from a variety of grains and dried beans.
Cake Mix Cinnamon Rolls
These cake mix cinnamon rolls are absolutely delicious. I make them the night before, take them out in the morning and let them rise. I have also made sticky buns with this recipe using a coconut/pecan frosting for the bottom of my pan.
Semla (Swedish Fat Tuesday Buns)
A semla is a delicious Swedish cardamom-scented, buttery bun filled with sweet almond paste and fluffy whipped cream. Semlor buns are traditionally eaten the day before the start of Lent, but they are so enjoyable that I suggest you make them anytime!
Classic Glazed Doughnuts
For pillowy doughnuts similar to those from popular nationwide bakeries, this recipe uses tangzhong or "water roux," a baking technique with origins in Japan. They are topped with a vanilla glaze.
Pain au Chocolat (Chocolate Croissants)
This pain au chocolat recipe makes light, flaky French croissants filled with delicious chocolate. They do require a little effort but a bread machine makes the process a lot easier. Your entire family will love these!
Sausage Gravy Kolaches
Kolaches are originally from the Czech Republic and usually have fruit or cheese fillings. This savory sausage gravy version is popular in Texas.
Brioche Col Tuppo (Sicilian Brioche)
I've streamlined the recipe for Brioche Col Tuppo (Sicilian brioche), which I believe is the best baked product ever named after a hairstyle. Named for the hair bun worn by Sicilian women, this buttery, perfectly perky, absolutely gorgeous bun is usually eaten for breakfast.
Uncrustable Donuts
The best way to serve a PB&J is in donut form. With the help of Uncrustables, you can whip up PB&J (or just peanut butter, or chocolate-hazelnut, you get the idea) donuts in just 15 minutes. Cinnamon sugar gives the outside a nice, churro-like crunch, which perfectly complements the creamy center.
Rosemary-Garlic Beer Bread
This rosemary beer bread recipe couldn't be easier: You don't have to activate any yeast, there's no rise time, and it comes together shockingly quickly with a homemade shortcut.
Orange and Saffron Panettone
This panettone recipe is perfect for Christmas gifts. The sweet yeast bread is studded with candied orange and lemon peel and Cointreau-soaked golden raisins, topped with pearl sugar. Make the sponge and soak the raisins the night before mixing the dough; the final dough needs time to ferment, as well. It's rich and buttery and needs time to firm up in the refrigerator. This makes a lovely weekend project!
