These sweet and sour meatballs with sauerkraut, chili sauce, and cranberry sauce are the perfect appetizer. They're easy to make in the slow cooker and taste so good.
Ingredients
- 27 ounces Bavarian-style sauerkraut , undrained
- 1 can whole cranberry sauce , 16 ounce
- 1 bottle tomato-based chili sauce , 12 ounce
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 1 package frozen meatballs , 16 ounce

Mix sauerkraut, cranberry sauce, chili sauce, water, and brown sugar together in a mixing bowl until well combined.

Place meatballs into a slow cooker. Pour in sauce and mix until meatballs are coated. Cover and cook on Medium, stirring occasionally, until an instant-read thermometer inserted into the center reads at least 160 degrees F (71 degrees C), about 4 hours.

Ham Chowder
I made this ham chowder recipe with leftovers I had one day. It's a ham- and potato-based soup with leeks, onions, rosemary, cream, bacon, and carrots. The ham and bacon give this soup a smoky taste while the cream gives it a rich texture. Chowder is better served the next day.
Chess Pie
This chess pie is a very old Southern recipe. It's a very sweet, rich dessert which cannot be described as anything but marvelous. First, the beef must be well brownedβ I'm talking deep, dark, crusty, and caramelized. The other key step is easier. Just braise them until they're fork-tender. To paraphrase an expression, "stick a fork in them, they're done." After browning properly, the only way to mess these up is to undercook them, so don't.
