This sweet popcorn recipe makes a lot, so either invite your friends or store it in an airtight container for later. I first tried this when I was visiting my sister in West Virginia. After trying it, I loved it. However, I neglected to ask her for the recipe. Ten years later, I have it, and I still love it! The kids can help make it if you use an air popper (which I did to reduce fat and calories โ there's enough in the butter). I used my deep-dish lasagna pan to cook it in the oven. You can use a roasting pan or a large, deep-dish pan.
Ingredients
- 1 cup unpopped popcorn
- 0.33 cups butter
- 0.67 cups white sugar
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 0.5 teaspoons salt
- 0.5 teaspoons vanilla extract
Instructions
-
1
Gather all ingredients. Preheat the oven to 250 degrees F (120 degrees C).
-
2
Pop corn using an air popper according to the manufacturer's directions. Place into a large mixing bowl and set aside. Melt butter in a small saucepan over medium heat.
-
3
Stir in sugar, cinnamon, salt, and vanilla; cook until thick and bubbly. Pour over popcorn; stir until evenly coated.
-
4
Spread popcorn into a large roasting pan. Bake in the preheated oven for 10 minutes.
-
5
Turn the oven off and allow popcorn to stay in the oven for 20 minutes. Remove from the oven and let cool completely before serving.

Skin-On Savory Mashed Potatoes
Mashed potatoes with skins are just as tasty as those made with peeled potatoes. This is a version of mashed potatoes that my husband actually likes. You can use any type of potatoes and change the amounts of butter, sour cream, and milk to your taste. I like it with russets myself.
Lemon Ginger Cranberry Applesauce
I wanted a brighter-tasting cranberry sauce instead of one that had just a sweet note of sugar. Using lemonade concentrate made it easy and the ginger was perfect with the tart cranberries. Adding lemon peel would be good with this also, and this is wonderful served on top of turkey soup! Also good for any time of the year.
Mustard Fried Chicken
This mustard fried chicken recipe uses wings seasoned with a delicate mixture of spices, coated in mustard, and floured before being fried until crisp. If you don't have a deep fryer, you may use a heavy skillet, but I recommend a deep fryer for crispier chicken. This chicken is so good!
