A moist and chewy cranberry walnut bread recipe for the bread machine with great taste. Watch the consistency; I usually need to add more flour so that it doesn't "climb the walls."
Ingredients
- 0.25 cups rolled oats
- 0.25 cups water
- 1 cup buttermilk , at room temperature
- 1 egg
- 3 tablespoons honey
- 1.5 tablespoons margarine , softened
- 3 cups bread flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 0.25 teaspoons baking soda
- 0.5 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 0.75 cups dried cranberries
- 0.5 cups chopped walnuts
Instructions
-
1
Place all of the ingredients (except the cranberries and the walnuts) in the pan of the bread machine in the order recommended by the manufacturer. Select Light Crust and Sweet Cycle and press Start.
-
2
If your machine has a Fruit setting, add the cranberries and walnuts at the signal, or around 5 minutes before the kneading cycle has finished.

Chef John's Duchess Potatoes
Duchess potatoes are the perfect special occasion side dish. You can prepare them in advance and then bake them when you need them.
Chef John's Green Goddess Dressing
This green goddess dressing recipe makes a creamy, herby, and delicious salad dressing. It's also one of my favorite dips. You can tweak the acidity with more or less lemon and adjust the salt and pepper, but please do not change the trio of herbs. The way the parsley and chive play against the sweet tarragon makes this unlike any other herb dressing.
Pomegranate Cranberry Sauce/Relish
A fresh and simple alternative to canned cranberry sauce. Made with fresh cranberries, this recipe pairs wonderfully over toasted bread and meats! If you find sauce is too thick, you may add water, 1/4 cup at a time, or as needed. Enjoy!
